9/17 The Knoll with attached

House, c.1800. Pebble flint with gault brick dressings, slate roof with
raised gable parapets. 3 bays, 2 storeys, rear wing to right. House returns
angled to fit triangular space between two converging lanes; end internal
stacks. North facade: platband of 3 courses, middle course rendered and
painted, stone plaque to left inscribed "RANDALL BUILDINGS". Sashes with
glazing bars, 2 to ground floor, 3 to 1st floor. Windows and semi-circular
headed central doorway with quoined surrounds in gault brick. Door
with 6 raised and fielded panels, semi-circular fanlight above with round
and curved glazing bars. Rear: 1 bay wing to west of 1½ storeys; 2 storey
addition to centre bay in flint with red brick dressings; bay window with
lead roof addition to east bay ground floor, sash with glazing bars above.
Interior: moulded doorways and doors of 3 raised and fielded panels
throughout; open string curving staircase with square sectioned wooden
balusters and wreathed mahogany handrail; central ceiling rose with raised
leaves, plaster frieze of roses to hall ceiling; plaster friezes to ceilings
of ground floor and 1st floor left rooms. Attached garden walls converging
to front continuing return walls of house, that to west after a short outward
curve, pebble flint with gault brick dressings and cap topped by railings
having short spear headed iron bars.
