House. C16 earlier and later. Flint and brick. Pantile roof. T-shaped
plan plus projecting bay. West range of 2 storeys, south front of flint.
2 bays. 3-light ovolo mullion window to ground floor, previously a taller,
transomed window now cut down. Upper floor with one C20 leaded mullioned
window and one 3 light ovolo mullion. Projecting southwards from this wing
a full height gabled wing for stairway, also of flint with brick quoins.
Off-centre in south face a 4-centred arched brick doorway, now blocked.
One small blocked window at 1 1/2 storey height with brick reveals. Small
casement to upper storey with brick reveals. Next bay to east rendered,
with current entrance. Double doors of 3 panels each, with flat hood over.
First floor sash window with glazing bars. Attic dormer. Also projecting
south a third wing of c1700 of 2 bays, 2 storeys. Brick quoins. Sash windows
with glazing bars under rubbed and gauged flat brick arches. Moulded
reveals. Platband. Wooden cornice with modillions. Oversailing hipped
roof. Left hand return of this range of 5 bays has first bay openings
blocked, second bay C19 sash windows with glazing bars, third bay ovolo
moulded 2 light mullioned and transomed window to ground floor with C20
glazing; C20 leaded mullioned and transomed window to upper floor; Last
two bays have C19 casements to ground floor, large blocked opening to upper
floor suggesting change in floor level from main range. Rear elevation of
first, flint, range of brick, 6 bays, 2 storeys. Sash windows with glazing
bars, some renewed in 1980's under flat rubbed and gauged brick arches with
raised brick keystones. Wooden 4-centred arched doorway to left of this
range with castellated lintel, light above now blocked. Interior. First,
flint, range with cambered tie beam, notch on top and in rafters suggesting
former crown-post roof. 1980's many fireplaces and doors brought into house
find much of ground floor panelled to augment some C18 panelling. 2 wooden
columns introduced to entrance hall. C18 dog-leg stair, some balusters
introduced in 1980's.
