Library. c.1872, by William Butterfield. English bond brick with flared headers
in diaper pattern; limestone ashlar dressings; old tile roof; brick stacks. One
storey; 4-window range. Hipped central porch has wood pointed chamfered arch to
lobby with segmental headed arch over plank double doors with decorative hinges.
Porch flanked by outshuts with 2-light chamfered stone-mullioned windows with
chamfered brick jambs, and offset buttresses. Hipped half-dormers have 2-light
transomed windows with cusped heads. Flush ashlar band beneath dog-tooth eaves.
Gabled roof with ashlar coping, moulded kneelers and decorative ridge tiles;
offset rear lateral stack. Side walls have segmental arches over 2- and 3-light
windows with cusped heads. 2 similar half dormers flank rear stack. Interior has
arch-braced collar-truss roof.
