Farmhouse. c.1730. Chequer brick front to coursed limestone rubble with brick
quoins; old tile roof; brick stacks. Double-depth plan. 2 storeys and attic;
symmetrical 3-window range. 6-panelled door with overlight and flat hood with
finely carved consoles and panelled soffit. Door flanked by segmental-arched
3-light leaded cross windows: timber lintels over similar first-floor windows of
3 lights flanking 2-light over door. Raised storey band; dentilled eaves. Three
gabled roof dormers with C20 casements. Fine end brick Dutch gables with tile
coping: stacks placed at junction of front range with double-gabled rear range,
also with tile coping. Two C18 two-light leaded casements to rear, and 2-light
leaded cross-window in left gable wall. Interior: 4-panelled doors set in
moulded architraves, and 2 early C18 plank doors to rear. Open fireplace to
right. Early C18 dog-leg with winder staircase in central vestibule has fine
turned balusters set on closed string, and plank spandrel. First floor not
inspected. A rare example of a Dutch-gabled farmhouse in this area.
