chancel of Church of St.
Michael

Chest tomb. Late C17. Limestone. Splayed plinth and cyma-moulded cornice: slate
lozenges left into sides have inscriptions. In memory of Lieutenant William
Godfry, d.1694 and a staunch Royalist: one inscription reads "Here/lyeth ye
Body/of Lieutenant Willi/am Godfry who faithful/ly served King Charles ye
lst/from Edgehill Fight/to ye end of ye/unhappy/wars".
