Shown on Ordnance Survey map and formerly known as Sheepstead House.
House, now 3 dwellings. Early C18: remodelled and extended for the Morland
family c.1819. Uncoursed and coursed limestone rubble; Welsh slate roofs; brick
stacks. Double-depth plan with projecting outer wings to rear. Remodelled in
Regency style. 2 storeys. 4-window range front includes an early C18 house
behind right half. Early C19 stone porch with Tuscan columns and entablature to
left of centre: 6-panelled door flanked by glazed lights. Flat stone arch over
French windows above porch which open onto balcony with wrought-iron balustrade.
Flat stone arches over early C19 six-pane sashes. Early C19 parapet; hipped
roofs, taller and steeper-pitched early C18 roof to right; lateral, internal and
ridge stacks. Left side wall has flat stone arches over early C19 sashes and 2
French windows: similar 6- and 8-pane sashes and early C19 porch to right side
wall. Interior: Sheepstead House to left has early C19 interior and panelled
doors; marble fireplaces include one with the Morland rebus to rear left;
staircase with wrought-iron balustrade. Brewers, to right, has early C18 dog-leg
staircase with barley-sugar balusters on closed string, and early C18 stone
bolection-moulded fireplace on first floor. Morland not inspected.
