Row of 3 houses. Mid C17. Rendered base; large timber-framing; brick infill in
herringbone pattern; old plain-tile roof; brick stacks . 2 storeys and attic;
6-window range with cross-wing to right. Plank doors to left, left of centre,
and right of centre. Angled bays on brackets with ovolo moulded wood mullions to
left, left of centre, right of centre and end of cross-wing to right. Jetty to
first floor with shaped and carved main brackets. 2-light wood mullion window to
first floor left. Three 2-light wood mullion windows to right. Angled bays on
brackets with ovolo moulded wood mullions and false gables to centre and left of
centre. Cross-gables with banded fishscale tile-hanging and 2-light wood
casements to centre and left of centre. Gable end to cross-wing to right has
banded fishscale tile-hanging and 2-light wood casement. Gabled full dormer to
left. End stack to left, shaped ridge stack to centre, ridge stack to right of
centre. Interior of No.1 (Church Close): straight flight staircase with winders,
Ovolo moulded spine beams with decorative end stops to ground and first floor.
Open fireplace to first floor left of centre with rendered-brick chamfered Tudor
arch with fragmentary arabesque wall painting above.
