Lychgate. Circa 1880. Timber on a limestone plinth with a plain-tile
roof. 2-bay gable-fronted structure with 2 arched collar-trusses and
arcaded sides, the eastern arch buttressed by timber struts; an ornamental
wrought-iron cross on the ridge. Inscription carved on the arches to west a
text; to east "Erected by members of Cuddesdon college in loving memory of
Jane Diana Furse who fell asleep March 1877". The gate frames the most
impressive view of the church and is very important for its setting. Included
for group value.
