Farmhouse. Late C16/early C17, refronted or re-windowed early C18. Coursed
squared limestone rubble with chamfered timber lintels; old plain-tile roof with
brick gable stacks. Central-stair plan. 2 storeys plus attics. 3-window front
has central door with 3-light casement to left and 2-light casement to right,
both with transoms, casements of 3,2 and 3 lights at first floor and two 3-light
dormers. All frames renewed. Stone mullioned cellar windows. Stacks each have 2
diagonal shafts. Small single-storey wing to left with hipped roof. Right gable
wall has small single-light windows with heavy frames and leaded lights. C19 two
storey brick extension at rear. Interior: Heavy timber-framed cross partitions,
chamfered beams with ogee stops; three C16 moulded stone fireplaces with
herringbone tiling; large open fireplace with chamfered bressumer; early C18
bolection-mould panelled room with matching fireplace, door and doorcase, now
relocated within house; moulded plank doors in chamfered and stopped frames;
cellar with heavy flat joists; 3-bay butt-purlin roof.
