Former Parish Church. (RCHM 27). Rebuilt in Headington stone 1707-8 to Palladian design of Dean Henry Aldrich (DNB). Restored 1866; the spire rebuilt in Bath stone 1874. The south front and tower (in Portland stone) restored 1888 and north front restored 1906 by H W Moore. Refitted 1896 by Sir Thomas Jackson. Contains C17 and C18 monuments. A very important early Palladian design, divorced from the London Manner of Burlington and Kent.
