3/30 Sycamore Farmhouse
22/10/86
II
Farmhouse, now house. Early C18. Coursed limestone rubble with some ashlar
dressings; old plain-tile roof with rubble and brick gable stacks. 2-unit
through-passage plan. 2 storeys plus attic. Symmetrical 3-window front has a
central doorway below a small C19/C20 sash and has larger sashes in the outer
bays, all with ashlar flat arches. Sashes probably replace casements. Roof has
brick stacks on rubble bases. Brick extension to right, with a catslide roof to
front, incorporates some late C18/early C19 chequer brickwork. Rear of main
range has further flat-arched sashes and a blocked central doorway. Interior:
stop-chamfered spine beams; open fireplaces, one with stop-chamfered bressumer,
inglenook seat and bread oven. Through passage now incorporated into room.
