2/71 Dovecot Cottage

G.V. II

Cottage, formerly pigeoncote. Early C19 with late C19 additions.
Dressed coursed rubble. Pyramidal slate roof. Single double
stone stack to the rear and central weather vane. Dogtooth
eaves. Set on a plinth. 3 storeys, single bay. Central single
late C19 canted bay with casement windows. Above are 2 arched
casements with flush ashlar surrounds. In the top floor is a
single arched opening with flush ashlar surround and wooden
traceried panel. To the right, set back, is a 2 storey, 2 bay
late C19 wing with single double stone stack to the rear. In the
re-entrant angle is a stone and slate open porch with a C20 inner
door. There is a single fixed light on the first floor. The
south east gable with decorative bargeboard and quoins has a
single projecting bay with casements. Above are 2 arched
casements with flush ashlar quoin surrounds. In the top floor
of the pigeoncote is a rectangular opening with flush ashlar
surround. To the right, set back, is a gabled single storey plus
attic single bay wing with decorative barge board, single arched
casement in flush ashlar surround on each floor.
