Lumley c30 yards souths
west of Church of St.Mary
GV II

Churchyard memorial. 1795. Sandstone. Tablet c.4 feet high with scrolled
shoulders and elliptical top. Well carved inscription including verse:
Yes! you are gone but who can truly tell
The silent anguish of a last fare well;
Forever gone, ah! no, those tears refrain;
Beyond the grave we still may meet again:
Forgive, blest shade, this tributary tear,
The wish, the prayer that would have kept you here.
