NY 97 SE WHITTINGTON HALLINGTON

Formerly water mill and cottage now one house. Dated 1708 but with older core.
Extensively modernized late C20. Random rubble with renewed Welsh slate roof.
2 storeys. Former mill building to right has alternating quoins. 4 steps up
to off-centre C20 door in alternating-block surround with dated lintel. 2 small
windows on ground floor and 4 on 1st floor (one a C20 insertion) are C20 top-
hung casements in original openings. Small carving of miller with arms akimbo
above door. Undershot iron water wheel still in situ on right return.

Lower cottage to left has two 16-pane sashes on ground floor and one 1st floor,
all renewed. Also renewed small 16-pane window.

Section to left of original cottage built c1980.

Interior has one very thick wall with probably C16 doorway. Also, in lounge,
the bulk of the mill machinery still in situ.
