NZ 07 SW WHITTINGTON GREAT WHITTINGTON

16/97 East Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. Dated K R 1699, altered early C19. Random rubble and including
some Roman stone. Welsh slate roof. 2 storeys.

Garden front of 4 asymmetrical bays. C20 glazed door in 3rd bay has early C19
raised surround. Flanking bays have 30-pane sashes in similar surrounds. Left
bay, which is C18 extension of original house, has renewed 6-pane sash on ground
floor and narrow 12-pane sash above. Left of door a small square window with
chamfered surround and iron bars.

Rear, which is present entrance front, has catslide roof on left half. This
section has C19 door with arched panels.

2-storey section to left has C19 door under dated lintel with hoodmould.
Casement window above also has hoodmould and stepped chamfered surround. Gabled
roof with stone corniced ridge and left gable stack.
