GV II

Hall house, extended and converted into a Village Hospital. Early C16, converted
in 1859, as tablet records, "by Mr Albert Napper, Surgeon of Cranleigh" the first
village hospital in England. Timber framed with red brick infill below, fish-
scale tile hanging above with steeply pitched, hipped, plain-tiled roof with end
gablets. Brick and tile hung extensions to rear. One storey and attic on old
house with three gabled on-eaves dormers. Massive centre stack to rear. One
diamond-pane leaded casement window to ground floor left, hipped roof square
wooden bay to centre with arched diamond-pane lights. Pentice extension to left
end with further window. Doors to right in single storey extensions. C19
extensions with tall stacks to rear. C20 single storey brick extensions,
containing the main entrance to right, not of special interest.
