25.2.52 Stables to rear of Lewes House

GV II

Stable block, now offices. Later C18. lied brick with blue headers. Slate
half-hipped roof. Single storey, with former hay-loft in centre, and also at
left end. Central pediment-gable and octagonal louvred cupola with octagonal
slate roof and finial. Irregular fenestration of 2 glazing bar sashes to left
and 7 to right, all with segment heads. Blocker arch to left with wooden door
and 2 large casements at extreme left. Half-hipped semi-dormer above. Part-
glazed, part-planked hay-loft opening under pediment-gable. Planked door to
right. Brick pier attached to north, matching that to south of Lewes House.
