4/10 Farmbuildings to West of
Broomhouse Farm House

Farmbuildings. Early C19. Roughly dressed and coursed stone with well dressed
stone around openings. Welsh slate roof. Largely symmetrical arrangement of
buildings projecting at right-angles to a main range. 5 projections, the centre
one a two-storey barn, those left and right single-storey cowsheds with cast iron
columns. The main range along the back has segmental arches into cowsheds. Range
to right of barn becomes 2 storeys with granary over. Projecting behind barn is
a threshing shed with granary over and attached circular gingang with ball finial
at apex of roof. Square stone pillars. Roof structure of main tie beam and
radiating subsidiary tie beams, king post with struts to principal rafters. Two
rings of curved purlins. Massive beams to support former machinery.
Further two-storey range to front of farm. Cart shed with 4 segmental arches and
a granary over which is reached by outside stairs.
