5/6 Chatton Bridge

Bridge. Early C18 and late C19, possibly with older core. Ashlar and rock-faced
ashlar. North side is oldest. 2 broad segmental arches with smaller segmental
flood arch to left. 2 triangular cut-waters carried up to parapet to make indents
for pedestrians. Cut-waters between 2 main arches more pronounced than that
between left and flood arches Plain parapet and approach walls. Older masonry
on right approach and abutment with indication of steeper, earlier roadway.

Bridge doubled in width in late C19. Rock-faced facade and rusticated vaults.

4 stone steps down from east of north side.
