12/30 The Iron Rails
GV II
House, formerly inn. Early C18. Rendered with painted ashlar door and window
surrounds. Welsh slate roof and brick chimneys. L-shaped.
2 storeys, 5 bays. 2 steps with flanking iron railings up to 4-panelled door in
raised surround. Wooden hood over on wood brackets. 4-pane sash windows in
raised surrounds. Steeply-pitched roof with kneelers, thin raised coping and
rebuilt end stacks.
Interior has panelled entrance hall, including one 2-panelled and two 6-panelled
doors. One ground-floor room has panelling of c.1700 with moulded wood cornice,
and fireplace with eared architrave and pulvinated frieze. C18 open-well
staircase with turned balusters.
lst-floor landing has 2 round-headed doors with fluted jambs and keystone.
lst-floor room has early C18 panelling with fluted pilasters, niche with fluted
keystone and shaped shelves, moulded wood cornice.
