Biddlestone Chapel

Icehouse. Early C19. Ashlar. Built into steep bank with retaining wall and
square porch.
Inside, a short passage with 3 right-angled turns leads to the ice chamber which
is square, c.15 ft. deep with tunnel-vaulted roof and offsets at regular intervals
down the sides which formerly supported wooden shelves to hold the ice. A trap
door through the vault, covered by a massive stone slab, provided further access.
