8/1 Poplar Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Probably late C17, C18 to C20. Squared coursed limestone with slate
roof. Originally probably 2-unit plan, now double-depth. 2 storeys. Entrance
front of 2-window range with 2 gables above. Central 6-panel door has glazed
toplights and gauged stone head. Early C20 casement windows, those to left under
wood lintels and those to right under concrete lintels. Brick stacks at ridge.
Elevation to left is probably of C17 origin of 3 windows. Central 3-light stone
mullion window with leaded lights to first floor and similar 4-light window to
ground floor. Irregularly spaced early C19 sash windows to left and right, have
glazing bars and wood lintels. C17 doorway with moulded stone surround, to
right, is now blocked. Early C20 one-unit, 2-storey, brick extension to left.
Elevation to right of main front has one early C19 sash window with glazing
bars. Interior: centre room has spine beams and remains of an open fireplace.
