4/13 The Maltings

GV II


Farmhouse, now house. Late C17, mid C18 and C19. Squared coursed limestone with
concrete tile roof. Originally 3-unit plan, now 4-unit. 2 storeys. 5-window
range of C19 style casements under wood lintels. Ground floor window to far
right has hood mould. 6-panel door to right of centre under C19 gabled hood.
Evidence of blocked door, now window, to left of centre. Ashlar gable parapet to
right and ashlar stacks with remains of moulded cornices at ridge and ends. Bay
to far left is of a later build. Rear elevation has some C20 windows. Interior:
room to right of entrance has C17 fireplace with 4-centred arch head and moulded
stone surround. 2 rooms to left of entrance have open fireplaces with
bressumers. Some C18 two-panelled doors. Early C19 staircase with original stick
balustrade to flight only.
