Institute and house row. Institute dated 1866, house row mid C19.
Chequered red and grey brick. Plain tile roof. Institute built at right-
angles to road. 2 storeys on brick plinth. Broad doubly-cogged brick band
above ground and first-floor windows of Institute and as border to coping
of gable. Institute has kneelered gable with apex raised on rectangular
plinth. Eaves of house row much lower. Brick stack to left of Institute
and ridge stack towards each end of house row. Regular 3-window front to
Institute of recessed 4-pane sashes with rendered segmental heads.
Irregular fenestration to Nos. 15-19 of 3 recessed 4-pane sashes with
splayed brick voussoirs. Ground floor shop front to Institute with double
doors to right. Panelled door to No. 15 and C20 door to No. 17 adjacent
between left and central first floor windows. Shop front to No. 19,
incorporating half-glazed door to right. 1866 datestone to gable of
Institute. Interiors not inspected. Included for group value.
