Grinstead Viaduct

Railway viaduct. 1880 for the London, Brighton and South Coast railway. Red
brick. Ten 70' segmented arches with length of 700' and maximum height of 90'.
Piers with impost head. Corbelled out refuge over each pier. An imposing and
unaltered structure. The chief engineer of the LBSCR at this time was F Dale
Banister and he was in charge of the construction of this line.
