Grave slab. Restored 1956. Stone. Inscribed: "JAMES BRINDLEY /
of TURNHURST ENGINEER / was interr'd Sept. 30th 1772 / Aged 56". Attached
to the grave is a metal plaque which lists some of the events in Brindley's
life. It was presented by E.T.D. Warrilow F.S.A. Staffordshire County
Secretary of the Ancient Monuments Society. The Church of St. James
is not included in this list.
