House; the central part of a range of three dwellings. Early C19. Coursed and squared limestone rubble with ashlar dressings, clay tile roof with coped verges on kneelers; rough faced ashlar end stack to right. Three storeys, three windows, 16 pane glazing bar sashes to grounds and first floors; glazing bar casements to second floor; central boarded door with bracketed cornice hood. Formerly the workhouse, governed by the vestry and, post 1834, the workhouse for the Alstone field Poor Law Union. Forms a group, with Sunnyside (Q.V.) and Rest Cottage (q.v.).
