A C16 timber-framed and plastered building on a moated site, with C18
and later alterations and additions. Roof tiled, hipped with a ridge
chimney stack with a row of 4 octagonal shafts with moulded bases. The
shafts have been reduced in height and chimney pots added. L-shaped
plan with wings to the north-east and south-east. The south-east wing,
formerly a cross wing, is now incorporated into the main block. Two
storeys and attics. Six window range of casements. The doorway has
a Tuscan portico with plain columns and a cornice. John Boise, scholar
and divine is said to have been born here and was later rector.
