The Maltings comprise an L-shaped range of modest red brick C19 industrial buildings of one and two storeys with slate and pantile roofs. A Kiln, which stands at the south-west corner and is now slate covered only on one face (at time of listing in 1980), is a familiar local landmark. The frontage to Prentice Street which stands between No 44 and 45 (Mill House), is red brick two storeys. Three window range, double-hung sashes with glazing bars. The facade has pilaster treatment and a raised brick band between storeys. Roof slate.
