The house was rebuilt about 1650 by Miles Burkitt, sometime Rector of
Hitcham. It was much altered at the end of the C18. Roofs slate. A
timber-framed and plastered building with the ground storey faced in
gault brick. The main block has 3 window range and a later addition
on the west end has 2 window range. The windows are double-hung sashes
with glazing bars. The chief feature is a fine ridge chimney stack with
6 octagonal shafts on a rectangular base with a date panel with the date
1656 on the north side.
