Arched gateway in garden wall (q.v.). Late C16-early C17.
Limestone ashlar work. A formal carriage archway comprising a
half-round arch with key and springing blocks, flanked by Tuscan
pilasters supporting entablature of cavetto and fascia architrave,
and pulvinated frieze, cut by vertical slots. Cornice and small
pediment with central and end baluster finials, the ends supported
by scale carved consoles. Oak gates, probably C20, with slatted
upper section and shaped top rail. Said to have been brought in
and rebuilt in this position.
