Gazebo with game larder under, and approach stairways. c1690.
Fine brickwork with lime putty pointing, and raised stone quoins.
Slate roof. Square plan. Lower stage has offset door within stone
surround, and a horizontally set stone oval window with moulded
keyed architrave. Tall upper stage with door to west, and windows
on three other sides, that to south altered. Stone moulded
architraves with archivolt, carved spandrels, and lion mask
keystones. Door with bolection moulded surround. Roof hipped with
stone finial brackets and ball.
Interior: Game larder has brick segmental vault and hanging bars.
Upper level is octagonal, with corners of square occupied by arched
cupboard with panelled doors and shaped shelves, one with clerk's
desk, said to be from the time the building was used as a court
room. Approach to upper level is by a fine series of steps of
limestone with brick balustrades, rising in 3 flights from rear of
house. Stone copings with scrolled ends. Between steps and
gazebo, a large lead lined water tank of brick with stone copings.
