3/6 Barn at Puckshipton House
II
Barn. Pre 1720, timber framed on greensand sill, thatched roof,
replaced on east side with corrugated iron. Six bays, aisled both
sides. Cart doors in fifth bay and openings in first and second
bays, these converted to stables in early C19. Garage extension at
north end. Interior: Tie beam trusses with raking struts to
principals, and high collar. Two tiers of purlins replacing single
tier of earlier scheme. Double straight struts from ties to jowled
posts, and jowled outer wall posts. Aisles divided into bays, with
timber cattle feed trough set between arcade posts. Part of
original cambered brick floor survives.
