House. c1710-30. Brick. Slate roof. Two storeys and attic, 7
window bays, with parallel rear range, later extended to form
courtyard on left. Main facade has centre 3 bays broken forward
and segmental gable. Raised stone quoins and plat band. Central
6-panelled door with bolection moulded surround and broken pediment
containing arms of Dukes of Somerset in baroque frame. Consoles
below. Windows have moulded stone architraves and 3-centred heads
with raised keystones. Twelve pane sashes with intersecting ogee
heads, probably later C18. Window in gable similar. Windows to
bays 1 and 2, and 6 and 7 with similar detail but square headed.
Dentilled cornice throughout. Rear block, later C18, of 5 bays,
three wide central bays crowned with dentilled pediment, continued
as parapet over flanking bays. Windows in deep reveals with
concealed boxes. Central Roman Doric porch and 6-panelled door.
Rear elevation extended to right by 3 bays, probably later in date,
with end bays alsopedimented with oval recess in gable.
Interior has later stair in rear block connected to square hall in
front. C18 carved wood fire surround in left front block, and room
to rear fully panelled.
