Farmhouse and attached wall and gateway. Early C18 with mid Cl9 alterations.
Flemish bond brick with sandstone dressings. Painted wood modillion and moulded
cornice. Hipped and gabled old plain-tile roof; rebuilt brick ridge stacks.
Central staircase plan. 2 storeys and attic; formerly 5 bays, now 3-window
range. Symmetrical main front to garden has brick and moulded stone plinth,
rusticated alternating quoins and string course. Bolection-moulded doorcase has
carved keystone with mask, and large semi-circular pediment with remains of
shell moulding. C20 half-glazed door. Ground floor has mid C19 brickwork and
large 16-pane sashes with brick flat arches. First floor has first and fifth
bays bricked up. Second bay has original sash. Central late C20 top-hung sash.
Fourth bay has C19 sash. Gauged brick flat arches with stone console keystones
to alternate bays. Two C19 roof dormers have 2-light casements with horizontal
glazing bars. Roof is hipped to right. Left return side has twin gables.
Irregular 2-storey wing at right angles. 4-bay right return side and 5-bay rear
have most openings blocked or altered. Interior: open-well staircase has
column-on-vase balusters. 2-panelled, 6-panelled and moulded plank doors.
Attached wall and gateway at right angles on left of garden front. Early C18;
gateway rebuilt mid C19. Brick with stone coping. Gateway has square piers and
segmental arch. Stone ball finials on conical bases. The wall is approximately 2
metres high and 10 metres long.
