Former railway crossing keeper's cottage, c.1847 by J W Livock for the
Trent Valley Railway. Red brick with stone dressingsand dark blue/grey fish-
scale tile roof with stone-coped Dutch gables. Brick internal and end
stacks, the former with triple, the latter with single diagonally set
flues. In Jacobean style. L-plan, single storey. Facing track is a
2-light casement with stone surround with, to left, a gable with the project-
ing end stack. Darker brick quoins. Projecting plinth. On left side
are 2 similar 2-light casements and on right end gable a gabled porch
with a stone doorway now blocked with a casement. Various single-storey
extensions infill the angle of the L-plan to rear.
