Former railway station, now offices. 1847. By J.W. Livock for the Trent Valley
Railway. Brick with limestone dressings. Steep-pitched roofs have bands of
fish-scaie tiles and plain-tiles. Coped gable parapets have moulded octagonal
finials to apex and moulded kneelers; brick ridge, end, and internal stacks have
decorated octagonal shafts with moulded and embattled cornices to left part, and
similar diagonally-set square shafts to right ranges. Tudor style. One and 2
storeys; 8 bays. Projecting gabled second bay has moulded basket-arched doorway
with late C20 double-leaf 4-panelled doors and overlight. Moulded string course
and corbelled-out cross window in stone surround above. Double-chamfered 2-light
stone mullioned windows with quoined surrounds and late C20 leaded lights
throughout. 2-storey gabled left range. Right range of one storey and attic has
central gabled porch with 4-panelled double-leaf doors in moulded 4-centred arch
with hood mould and lozenge stops. Shield panel in gable. Gabled half-dormer
above. Cross windows to left and right have shield panels above. One-storey
2-bay range has 4-panelled door and window. Gabled range of one stormy and attic
to right has ground-floor window set in shallow projection with parapet, Left
return side has internal stack. Similar elevation to platform to rear; the
canopies have been removed. Interior not inspected.
