9/144 The Lacket
GV II
Cottage. Early C18. Brick with thatched roofs. Two storeys, 3
bays. Entrance to central dining room, with added early C19 room,
now drawing room-library to left, probably a rebuild of original
inner room, and kitchen beyond stack to right. Extensions to rear,
and good C20 timber extension contains garden room and children's
room. Door in C20 thatched porch with reset datestone reading I/R.
M 1709. Paned windows to ground floor and leaded windows to left
bay. Roof hipped, with stack to left gable, and taller stack to
main fireplace in central bay. Carrington (Mrs Partridge) is said
to have stayed here during visits to Wiltshire.
