9/124 Farm buildings at North Farm
GV II
Farm buildings in continuous range forming north and west sides of
farmyard. Probably C18. Of three separate builds; to east,
sarsen walls, centre cob walls, and on west, sarsen walls raised in
cob, and with open front. Thatched roof throughout. Right
building a 3-bay cowhouse, the centre build probably originally
open fronted, also of 3 bays and a cowhouse. Three bays to left
and 6 bay forward wing forming west return, with roof at lower
level. Front posts are jowled and carry tie beams with queen
struts and collars. A rare survival of farm buildings in cob
construction.
