Part of it was formerly the Queen's Head. A large timber-framed and plastered
house mostly of the C16 and C17 but possibly incorporating parts of an
earlier C15 house. Considerably altered, particularly on the front, in
the C18. No 1 has exposed timber-framing on the north side and at the
north end of the east front on the upper storey. The west front is mainly
faced in brick, colourwashed. 2 storeys. The windows axe arranged around
a large central carriageway, 1:2:1:2:1, mainly double-hung sashes with
glazing bars, some casements. The ground storey has mainly 3-light windows
on the east front. No 3 has a good early C19 shop front (renovated) with
glazing bars to the window, pilasters and cornice. On the north side there
is a C18 oriel bay on the upper storey and an original mullioned casement.
Roofs tiled (old tiles), hipped.
