Walling of former stable, 50m west of Coddenham House

Shell of former stable, 50m west of Coddenham House, c.1770. Built as domestic stabling for Sir Nicholas Bacon, rector of this parish (Coddenham House was the rectory until 1965). Red brick. A semicircular-headed arched entry has voussoirs of gauged brick. On either side are shallow blind arches with lunette windows retaining small-pane casements. The central pediment and copings and ball finials above the entrance front are of c.1980. Walling returns for about 30m on south and north sides; remainder of building demolished c.1970. Included for group value.
