House, latterly 4 dwellings. Early C16, floor and stack inserted and extended
late C17, altered C19 and C20. Timber frame, plastered. Thatched roof with
secondary hips. Originally a small 2 bay open hall with a storeyed lower bay,
extended to left with stack and parlour. 1 storey and attic. Original
entrance to right of centre now blocked, a boarded door into upper bay of
hall, C20 2-light lattice leaded casements, 3 eyebrow thatched dormers, ridge
stacks in original cross passage to right of centre and to left of original
upper end, rebuilt caps. Left end hipped over a small C18 extension, later
lean-to outshuts on both ends. Interior: ground floor framing altered, an
original window sill in service end, stop chamfered axial binding beam to
inserted hall floor, parlour has stop chamfered jowled storey posts, cross
axial binding beam, ogee and bar stop chamfered fireplace bressumers, left end
wall through tension bracing. First floor arched braces to cambered tie
beams, double arched braces in former open truss, the outer brace cranked,
arched braces in walling, remains of a 6-light diamond mullioned hall window
in original upper bay, diamond mullioned window openings in solar, edge halved
scarf joints in wall plates, roof retains some early rafters and collars with
mortices for crown posts, smoke blackening.
