Farmhouse, mid C17 with a mid C16 wing to rear. The front range remodelled
1894 as on date plaque in gable. 2 storeys, the front range with attics.
Timber-framed, the front range encased 1894 in gault brick, the wing
plastered. Plaintiled roofs with C19 crested ridge tiles; a good mid C17
chimney of red brick with burnt headers and panelled shafts. Large-pane
sashes of 1894. Gabled plaintiled entrance porch with late C20 panelled
entrance door. The rear range is of 2 bays with heavy unchamfered floor
joists and clasped purlin roof; the open truss has a pair of cruck-like knees
up to a collar-beam, which is probably a C17 alterations. The front range has
a roof constructed mainly of rafters from a large medieval hall, smoke-
encrusted and with assembly marks of early C14 type.
