GV II
Farmhouse, built in 3 stages: a 2-cell cross-wing 2 storeys and attics high of
c.1600; a narrow 2-bay 2 storey range of c.1400, which was extended in C18.
Timber-framed and plastered. The cross-wing has a thatched roof, the rear
wing mainly plaintiled, with a rear slope pantiled. Axial chimneys of C19 red
brick to both wings. Mainly early C20 casements, some with leaded lights. A
diamond-mullioned window of c.1600 is exposed and glazed. C19 timber-framed
and plaintiled entrance porch with possible earlier core; pair of C20 glazed
doors. The medieval section of the house has good quality carpentry with
close-studding, coupled-rafter roof and an open truss with a cambered arch-
braced tie-beam; it was probably a narrow (about 3 metres) cross-wing attached
to an open hall later demolished. Good plain carpentry in the wing of c.1600
with a lintelled open fireplace and clasped-purlin roof.
