Farmhouse. Mid C16 core with alterations and additions of c.1600 and early
C19. Timber framed and plastered; early C19 south wing in colourwashed brick,
forming L-shape plan. Shallow-pitch hipped pantiled roof with glazed black
tiles at the front. 2 storeys and attic. North front has 3 windows,
irregularly-spaced C18 small-paned casements. Mid C20 6-panel door and
doorcase. Heavy axial stack with rebuilt shaft. Early C19 wing has 3 windows
under segmental arches: to ground floor mid C20 4-light casements without
glazing bars; to first floor C18 small-paned casements and a small central
sash window with glazing bars. C20 flat-roofed porch with panelled doors.
The hall has a moulded bridging beam and chamfered joists; similar but defaced
moulding on the storey posts. The parlour ceiling has fine cross beams with
multiple mouldings. Some good studding; one C16 window with cavetto-moulded
square mullions. The lower end of the house is a replacement of c.1600: in
the service chamber an ovolo-moulded bridging beam and in the adjacent room
ovolo-moulded joists. Early C19 stair in south wing.
