5/199 Barn, 40m. south-west
- of Green Farmhouse

GV II

Barn, late C17 or c.1700. 5 bays. Timber-framed and mainly plastered on
lathes. Corrugated asbestos roof, formerly thatched. A gabled weatherboarded
porch at centre of south side, perhaps added a little later. A smaller porch
with a lean-to roof on south side. Primary-braced studding and middle rail.
Long straight tie-beam braces. Side purlin roof; 2 tiers of purlins, the
upper tier windbraced; the principal rafters are greatly reduced at the point
where the collars clasp the purlins. The lower tier are butted.
