GV II
The middle 3 of a row of 5 cottages, all different. Part C16, part C17.
Timber-framed, roughcast rendered, clay pantiled roofs. 2 storeys and attics
to No.2: dormer with single-pitch sloping roof and 3-light small-paned
casement window; a 3-light small-paned casement window to each storey, and a
single-light window to the side of the entrance. Plank door in plain surround
under a metal segmental arched porch roof. Nos. 3 and 4 are 2-storey; an
internal chimney-stack to No.3 is linked with No.2; No.4 has an end stack on
the north, set internally: both have plain rebuilt red brick shafts. Various
2-light casement windows with glazing bars and heavy surrounds; 2 doors within
small C20 wooden porches, gabled and enclosed. Entry refused, but the
interiors are said to have exposed timbering. Nos. 3 and 4, which originally
formed one house, appear to be the nucleus of the row with a basic 2-cell end-
chimney form; No.2 has the typical appearance of a C17 parlour wing added to
an earlier house. The remainder of the row is not of historic or
architectural interest.
