2/103 Oaktree Farmhouse
GV II
House, formerly farmhouse. C16 and C17. Timber framed with colourwashed
render and plaintile roof. Single storey with attic and 2 storeys. L-
shaped plan. Entrance front: projecting gabled wing at left of 1 1/2 storeys
with a canted bay window to the ground floor with hipped roof and a
tripartite window to the first floor, having a central sash of 4 x 4 panes
with lateral lights of 2 x 4 panes. To right of this and recessed is an
axial wing which has, to left of centre a projecting gabled porch before a
plank door with muntins. To either side are 2-light C20 casements. To the
attics above this are 2-light gabled dormer windows. At right, on line
with this, is one further 2-storey bay which has at ground floor level one
3-light casement and another at first floor level. To the ridge at left is
an axial stack with 3 flues and another stack of 2 flues to the right hand
end. This end has one plank door to the basement in an area and to the
first floor, at right, a 2-light casement. The left hand side has a
projecting wing at right and a 2-light casement. To left of this in the
gable end is a canted bay with hipped tile roof which has 3 lights to the
front and single lights to the sides and a 2-light casement to the first
floor. C20 addition to left of this, flat roofed with 3-light casement and
glazed door at right of it. Rear: at right is a C20 gabled wing with flat
roof and further C20 addition to right of that. To left in the re-entrant
angle with the axial range, is a further lean-to of C20 date. Two-light
C20 window to left of this at ground floor level and further C20 gabled
dormer to the attic above this.
Interior: Chamfered ceiling beams to the ground floor rooms with joists
which have stepped run-out stops, some timber cut out, and some inserted
C20 pine. Jowled wall posts to the passage. Wall posts and chamfered
ceiling beams to the present cross-wing. Close studding and angle braces
to the walls at first floor level.
