House and shop. Mid C19. Yellow Flemish bond brick with a slate roof.
Two storeys. Entrance front: 3 bays symmetrically disposed with a
projecting plinth which dies back by an offset save at the corners where
pilaster buttresses continue upwards and to the centre bay which projects
to a level flush with the plinth. The central doorway has a classical
surround with fluted columns at either side supporting a ledge, above which
is a cambered fanlight. The door has 3 raised and fielded panels with
moulded surrounds. To either side of this are ground floor windows of 3 x
4 sash panes with flat-arched heads. Between the floors is a band of three
bricks depth which surrounds the sills of the first floor windows which are
of 3 x 4 sash panes. Hipped slate roof above. Cross-axial stack to the
ridge at right with 2 flues and at left is an axial stack, behind the
ridge. The right hand gable wall is blank. Outshut to the ground floor at
rear. At the left hand side of the building is a single storey shop
addition which projects slightly to the front and has a shop window at
right and a half-glazed door at left with a rectangular overdoor light with
diamond-pattern glazing bars. Above these is a panel with moulded surround
bearing the name of the shop and above this is a battlemented parapet.
