Almshouse pair. Circa 1912 by Ernest Newton. Red brick , banded with grey between
paired central entrances. Recessed brick quoins. Moulded wooden cornice to hipped
tiled roof with tall end stacks. 1 storey. Paired central entrance bays, flanked by
casements in outer bays.
Whiteley Village was provided by William Whiteley of Whiteley's stores for thrifty
old folk and was laid out by Frank Atkinson on an octagonal plan, employing leading
architects of the day.
